Carla obtained her BA in Psychology from Shippensburg University, graduating in 1999 and initially working as a Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) for children with Autism in Chester County, PA. To obtain advanced education in the field, she moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and attended California State University. Carla graduated in 2003 with a MS in Psychology with a focus in Applied Behavior Analysis and Counseling. Additionally, she obtained a certificate in educating children with Autism through the Department of Special Education at the university. While in Los Angeles, she was trained to implement Pivotal Response Training by students of Robert and Lynn Kern Koegel and Laura Schreibman. In 2004, she became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Upon becoming a BCBA, she was employed by the PA VB Project and serviced classrooms across Delaware and Chester Counties under the guise of Mary Lynn Barbara. Over the course of her career, Carla has been lucky to have received guidance from some of the premiere clinicians in ABA programming across the country.
As the Associate Director of ABA Services and a BCBA at AAMH, Joshua supports our clinical teams to ensure adherence to the science of ABA throughout the course of treatment. Josh is a BCBA with nearly a decade of experience in working with children and specializes in supporting children and families with ABA therapy. He received his masters degree through Drexel University’s intensive, one-year Applied Behavior Analysis program. Having been born and raised in Philadelphia, Josh is passionate about providing all families in his community the resources they need to set their child up for success.
I’ve always had a passion for working with kids, which is what led me to a career in Applied Behavior Analysis. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with a concentration in Autism from Ball State University. I started in the field in 2022 as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)/Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), where I got to see firsthand the amazing progress our clients make. Now, as a BCBA, I love creating treatment plans and working closely with families to help children thrive. Seeing children’s growth and celebrating all their successes is what I believe makes this work so rewarding.
My experience in the field dates back to April of 2017 where I first started working for an ABA agency as a clinician. I was uncertain at first of if I was meant for this field or not. To no surprise I quickly fell in love with it and the passion has continued to grow ever since. From being a RBT to implement the treatment plans, to being in mid level positions and really getting an idea of how it feels to manage a case, to finally becoming a BCBA 4 years ago. It truly has come full circle within ABA and I could not be more happy with where I am at. I am forever grateful that I am lucky enough to work with so many incredible children and help to make a meaningful impact in their lives. Coming from a family with 2 brothers on the autism spectrum the drive to give everything to these children comes natural and will continue to do so in hopes of helping these children reach their fullest potential.
